Resume of Michael D. McMaster My background is as a Chartered Accountant, systems analyst, economist and general manager before beginning a career as author, workshop leader and consultant about 20 years ago. Since then, I've applied contemporary thinking in fields such as communications, linguistics, psychology, economics, IT, physics, design and philosophy to the challenges of organisational affairs. I've worked with executives in America, Canada, Japan, India, Russia and most of Europe in intensive development and organisational design. I've also worked with coal miners, shop-floor and whole enterprises on major cultural and organisational transformations. My current work is with organisational design and management practices to develop the intelligence of an organisation. My particular focus is design for innovation, flexibility, adaptability or, more accurately, on design for emergence. I have also sponsored and led conferences in conjunction with the Santa Fe Institute on "Complexity and Strategy: Organising for Intelligence" in San Francisco and London. I am a member of the Santa Fe Institute's Business Network and associate of George Mason University's Program on Social and Organisational Learning. I am a co-founder of Knowledge Based Development Co Ltd., a European consulting group with offices in the UK, Germany and Norway; The Santa Fe Center for Management Strategy; KBD Groupware Ltd; and The Organisational Intelligence Group headquartered in Virginia. Clients have included: Andersen Consulting, ARCO, Bertlesmann, British Gas, British Petroleum, Chevron, CitiBank, Daimler-Benz, Deloitte-Touche Consulting Group, AG Edwards, Hewlett Packard, Koch Industries, Monsanto, NHS (National Health Service), Nike, SmithKline Beecham, Statoil, Trafalgar House, Unilever.
